This privacy policy applies to the BiteBalance app (hereby referred to as "Application") created by Qikang Yan (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Freemium service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".

BiteBalance provides nutritional information and food analysis for informational purposes only. It is NOT a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of a physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or dietary changes.

Information Collection and Use

The Application collects information to provide and improve its AI-powered nutrition analysis. This includes:

Personal Data: Email address, age, gender, height, and weight (used to calculate personalized dietary goals).
Third-Party Authentication: If you choose to sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address as provided by these services to create and manage your account.
Media: Access to your Camera and Photo Library is required to capture and upload food images for AI analysis.
Usage Data: Device IP address, operating system, and app interaction timestamps.
Location: Approximate geographical location for personalized content and service optimization.

AI Processing Notice

BiteBalance utilizes advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning models to analyze food images. When you take a photo of food, the image is transmitted to our secured servers (powered by Node.js) and processed via third-party AI interfaces (such as OpenAI) to identify nutritional content. These images are used solely for analysis and are handled with strict confidentiality.

Third Party Access

The Service Provider may share anonymized, aggregated data with external services to improve the Application. Below are the third-party service providers used:

Expo (App Development Framework)
Supabase (Database, Storage & Authentication)
Apple (Sign in with Apple)
Google (Google Sign-In)
AI Analysis Providers (e.g., OpenAI/Claude API for nutritional parsing)

User-Generated Content (Community)

BiteBalance includes a community feature that allows users to create posts and comments. By using this feature, you agree to the following guidelines regarding unlawful, harassing, or infringing content. The Service Provider reserves the right to remove content and suspend accounts at its sole discretion.

Data Retention & Account Deletion

The Service Provider will retain user-provided data for as long as you use the Application. Users have the right to request the deletion of their account and all associated data at any time.

You can delete your account directly within the app settings, or contact us at 1438430734@qq.com. Upon account deletion, all personal profiles and nutritional history will be permanently removed from our servers and Supabase.

Children's Privacy

The Application does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13.

Security

We implement procedural and electronic safeguards (including Supabase RLS and encrypted connections) to protect your personal and nutritional information.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Continued use of the Application signifies your approval of all changes.
